About Mount Rainier National Park:
At 14,411 feet, dormant stratovolcano Mount Rainier towers some 8,000 feet above its neighboring Cascades peaks. Established March 2, 1899 as the nation’s fifth national park, it contains 368 square miles of land including all of Mount Rainier. A drive on aptly named Paradise Road leads you through dense fir and old growth forests, wildflower fields, Reflection Lake and countless vistas overlooking the park’s namesake and distant views of Mount St. Helens, Hood and Adams. The park is home to 25 glaciers, Nisqually being the most accessible. Giant Emmons Glacier has a surface area of 4.3 square miles, the largest of any in the contiguous United States.
